Virtually every corner of Madrid’s Las Letras district has been immersed in the biggest street decoration festival, which this year has celebrated its tenth anniversary. From any corner you could see a colorful spot that captured the glances of passers-by.
Red, yellow, blue, green… glossy, matte… volumes that emerge from the facades and balconies as works of art that surprise you in the middle of the road.
During 4 days more than 100 interior designers, antique dealers and gallery owners have transformed the neighborhood that was the residence of great writers of the 16th and 17th centuries into an open-air urban design studio.
More than 40 interventions on facades and premises with a common message, authenticity. Natural, ecological and reusable materials such as fabric, wood or forge have served as inspiration for these creations that seek, in one way or another, to be authentic.
DecorAcción -organized by the Association of Traders of the Barrio de Las Letras, Nuevo Estilo magazine and the Madrid City Council- has become a showcase for decorative trends. This year the color burst has been key in these urban creations of young designers and interior designers. Intense and diverse tones that, in addition to authenticity, convey strength and determination. The orderly chaos where each element has its meaning and function. Colorful decoration, which now sets trends, and seems to stay to brighten our lives.
